BI-LAWS

1. These rules will be presented by the board members and accepted by the club, and not changed under any conditions, (except for safety matters) after rules have been accepted for the year.

2. Meetings will be held weekly during the race season. No meetings after rules meeting until September. Meetings start at 7:00pm.

3. There will be a five (5) member board in addition to the flag person and pit steward. If the flag person and pit steward are to be on the board, they must run separately for that position as well as the flag person and pit steward. The board members, flag person and pit steward will be elected by the first meeting in April.

4. All members up for election or re-election to the board will sit for a two (2) year term in order to keep experienced board members in rotation.

5. If for any reason the club dissolves, all property owned by the club will be auctioned off. After bills are paid, remaining proceeds will go to charity.

6. All persons will sign in every race day upon entering the pit. Drivers will draw a number for position and donate to the plow fund.

7. Races will be held every Sunday at 12:00 pm (weather and ice permitting). There must be 12” of ice for races to proceed. Pit Meeting will be at 11:30 AM every race day.

8. Membership dues is $30.00 per person, per season if paid by 1st Fall meeting. After 1st Fall meeting it will be $50.00 per person, per season.  A person may race for $20.00 per event (no points) without joining the club. Registration fees for special races will be announced.

9. All cars must pass all safety rules of the club to compete in ANY event. They must also pass their own class rules. All cars will be inspected by the pit steward and may be disqualified at his discretion. The pit steward has final say on race day in the pits on safety matters and written rules.

10. Persons 13 up to 18 years old participating in an event must have a signed permission slip by their parent or legal guardian and witnessed by 2 non related people. Also a copy of their birth certificate must be on file with the club secretary prior to racing and a parent or legal guardian must be present and signed in with the minor each race day.

11. Final decision whether to race or not will be made no later than 8:00 am Sunday. DRIVERS ARE RESPONSIBLE for finding out if there are races or not. Contact a club official, check the website: http://www.lrirc.com or the club’s Facebook Page.

12. No drinking or possession of alcoholic beverages or drugs in the pits, on the track or at the meetings. Anyone not following club rules pertaining to drinking or drugs will be suspended for one calendar year. This rule will be enforced by members and officials.

13. All rules and decisions will be interpreted by the officials (board members, pit steward and flag person), not the participants or the spectators. On race day the pit steward’s word is final in the pits and the flag person’s word is final on the track.

14. Absolutely no snowmobiles or ATV’s allowed in the race area or the pits.

15. Car numbers will run from 00-99 in the stock class, modified & sprint car class, and all four cylinders together. The drivers who had a number in the previous racing year will have first choice on keeping that number for the following year. Numbers will be at least 2” by 18” high and legible. Contrasting colors must be used, letters will be allowed as long as they are no more than ½ the size but they will not be considered part of the car number.  No light colored cars allowed – at pit stewards discretion.

16. A set of rules will be posted in the pits on race day.

17. All members are permitted to vote on their class rules only and must be present. All drivers need to race one point race to vote in that class from previous year. They forfeit that right by not showing up on a work day by 10:00am. You lose the right to vote for one calendar year from the date of the infraction. Helpers must stay after the races for cleanup. Any registered driver that has competed in a heat, consi, or feature race that year except for special races, may not run in mechanics or officials races.

18. Board members are responsible for registering drivers on race day if the secretary or treasurer are not there.

19. No four wheel drive vehicles in any class.

20. All cars must be self starting. With exception of a Sprint Car, must provide their own push vehicle.

21. All cars must have a loop chain front and rear secured to the frame, with the exception of the modified & sprint car class.

22. Any club member or pit crew causing a disturbance at any club function will be suspended for not more than one calendar year.

23. Digging holes in the track will not be tolerated; suspension for the rest of the day and the following week will result. Operating race cars on track or pits only, if driving thru spectator area you are disqualified for the race.

24. The club must vote on all purchases over $500.00.

25. When a motion is made to end the racing year, all membership dues paid after that motion will be for the next year. If you sign up after the season is closed you can not vote on rules in that current year.

26. Meetings will be held in an orderly fashion. Only one person will have the floor at a time.

27. All cars must have a plastic sled or rug identified with their car number under them to catch any fluids that might drip from the engine and will dispose of properly. Driver and crew are responsible for keeping area clean.

28. Any member found using a club track on a non club function day will be suspended for no more than a year.

29. All cars will pass through the safety & technical inspection each week.

30. The decision to close the season will be made no sooner than March 15th.

31. Mechanics races to be determined no later than the 2nd feature by board members on race day.

32. Must have 2 scorers per week.

33. No spotter communication with drivers allowed.

34. At pit meeting each race day you will be told how many laps will be run for each race.  ice conditions and car count will be taken into consideration by board members and flag person.

35. On race day at Berry Pond an adult (18 or older)  is needed to direct traffic when races are finishing.

36. Each week helpers are to wear green vests and board members and track officials are to wear orange vest FOR THE DAY.

37. No spray foam used in race cars.

38. Anyone found leaving oil spills on the ice will be suspended 1 week.

39. Swapping cars for the feature is allowed.

40. Chain only club except for Latchkey Cup Race. (voted 2021)

41. All Bi-Laws and Class Rules voted on are in effect for 3 years.  All safety rules are voted yearly. (voted 2021)

SAFETY RULES

1. All cars to have a full working fire extinguisher, metal mounted with quick release and a gauge to be within reach of the driver inside the car. IT MUST BE AT LEAST 2 ½ LBS AND ABC RATED.

2. All glass must be removed (except the windshield). You must use a full windshield or either safety glass or lexan with no visual obstructions. ****NO PLEXIGLASS****

3. All interior lining and exterior trim, including plastic grills etc. must be removed from the car.

4. All drivers, while on the track MUST WEAR an approved helmet and harnesses at all times while races and practices are in progress.

5. All cars must have an opening large enough for easy escape.

6. Racing type harness’s are required in all classes with a minimum of a 4 point latch (if any questions please ask for a diagram of proper installation). Harness must be in good working condition, sub strap strongly suggested.

7. No sandbags, all ballast must be secured. NO bungee cords.

8. No bench seats.

9. No pit crew on the track.

10. All cars must have a working wiper on the driver’s side.

11. No racing backwards (clockwise) around the track, or in reverse gear.

12. You must run pump grade gasoline, no straight alcohol. Additives are allowed.

13. There must be a complete metal barrier between the gas tank and driver.

14. The battery must be fully enclosed and secured. Must also be covered with a non-sparking material if within the drivers’ compartment. NO bungee cords.

15. No suicide knobs on steering wheel.

16. All cars must have an adequate bracing on/in the drivers doors (no less than three bars or less than 1 ½” OD steel pipe or equivalent of and must be approved by the pit steward). 2 point overhead roll bar. Roll bar padding at pit stewards discretion.

17. All cars with sunroofs must be covered with sheet metal.

18. All cars must have two (2) excellent working brakes on drive axle.

19. All doors must be securely chained or welded shut.

20. No sharp edges on nerfing bars or bracing.

21. Window nets are mandatory for all classes except modifieds & sprint cars.

22. No spectator cars in the pits. Club members are expected to enforce this rule.

23. Steel or Aluminum wheels allowed in Modified or Sprint Car Class.

24. All drivers must have working raceceiver radio or scanner.

FLAG RULES

1. RED- STOP RACING: The red flag will not be thrown except for emergency conditions or the track is blocked. (ALL CLASSES).

2. FLUORESCENT ORANGE – CAUTION: Shown by corner persons: Shown by flag person: stop racing, return to the flag stand single file to be relined up. All cars that go into pits under orange will start at the rear. If there is a caution before one lap is complete by all cars there will be one complete restart except for the car or cars that cause the caution. The Flagman has the discretion to allow up to 3 laps under caution in Feature only. Any car bringing out 3 cautions will be sent to the pits for the rest of the race. at the flag persons discretion.

3. GREEN – GO: Front stretch only for Sprint and Modified classes.

4. WHITE: One lap to go.

5. BLACK: Disqualified if driving violation, with loss of points for the race. (At the flag person or corner person’s discretion).

6. CHECKERED: Race is over, (race through the checkered).

7. TWO CROSSED FLAGS: signifies half way point of the race.

8. TWO FLAGS (NOT FLYING): signifies two (2) laps to go.

9. PURPLE W/ORANGE STRIPE: Lap flag. Lap car to hold racing line.

10. Corner person’s will come under flag person’s words.

11. three (3) courtesy laps for cars in the pits under caution at flagperson’s discretion, Features only.

12. No backstretch starts for Modified or Sprint Car classes.

MODIFIED and SPRINT CAR RULES

1. Must have full roll cage frame and full frame, (pit steward discretion).

2. Bottom of front and rear bumper must be 20” high.

3. All cars must weigh a minimum of 1200 lbs.

4. Drive wheels must have a manufactured 3/16” center section thickness, approved by pit steward.

5. Must use 1” wheel lug nuts.

6. Must run SIERRA or equivalent coolant.

7. Must run mufflers.

8. No Sprint Cars can run with Modifieds and No Modifieds can run with Sprint Cars. No exceptions.

9. Must have previous racing experience.

10. Modified must weigh 2400 pounds without driver, with square tubing frame rails

STOCK RULES

1. Any stock car fuel injected or carbureted, six or eight-cylinder or half ton pickup (El Caminos and rancheros included).

2. Body, frame and engine must be of same manufacturer, GM-GM, FORD-FORD.

3. Engine – Single 2 or 4 barrel intake and carburetor, maximum 750 cfm. Rule definition: A) Owner must prove to the pit steward anything in question. B) Owner has one (1) week to prove component is stock. C) Loss of trophy plus one (1) week suspension. Headers or cast iron manifolds allowed.

4. No chassis adjustments. (Must remain stock)

5. Factory stock steel wheels no wider than eight (8) inches and not wider than three (3) inches from tire chain to frame (front and rear). After market steel wheels are recommended, Aluminum wheels are allowed.

6. Nerfing bars are allowed between front and rear tires only. Pipe must not be larger than 2” O.D. Bars must be as flush as possible with a limit of two (2) inches outside from inside of the tube to the outside of sheet metal in stock position. Pipe must be rounded on both ends. NO SHARP EDGES.

7. Stock appearing bumpers, front and rear. Reinforcements allowed behind face of bumper. No rough edges.

8. All hoods and trunks must be securely fastened.

9. Must use 1” wheel lug nuts with racing wheels. Stock wheels may use stock lug nuts.

10. Must run SIERRA or equivalent coolant.

11. Can use heavy-duty rear end with the exception of quick change rear ends.

12. Stock class will run on chains only, no studded tires. Will separate V-Bar from Sharpened chains.

4-CYLINDER REAR WHEEL DRIVE AND FRONT WHEEL DRIVE CLASS

1. Body, frame and engine must match, Saab-Saab, Ford-Ford etc.

2. No convertibles allowed.

3. Stock appearing bumpers, front and rear. Reinforcements allowed behind face of bumper. No rough edges.

4. Fenders may be trimmed for clearance but not excessively.

5. All doors must be welded or bolted shut. The drivers door will not be cut down excessively at pit stewards discretion.

6. Floor boards are mandatory inside the car.

7. Only one shock per wheel. No air shocks.

8. No adjustable shackles.

9. FWD and RWD will run on chains only. No studded drive tires.

10. Roller chains are allowed.

11. Any tire allowed, but not wider than seven-inch tire tread.

12. Any wheels and chains may be spaced no wider than two (2) inches outside original body line in order to clear struts (in a safe manner) at pit steward’s discretion.

13. Engine-external engine must remain show stock. Rule definition: A.)Owner must prove to pit steward anything in question. B.) Owner has one (1) week to prove component is stock. C.)Loss of points & trophy plus one (1) week suspension. Can run aftermarket carburetors up to 350cfm, 2 barrel with any air filter. Headers allowed.

14. Turbo’s, superchargers or rotaries allowed.

15. Engine must be in stock location.

16. Must run SIERRA or equivalent coolant.

17. Any rear end acceptable with the exception of quick change, fitting to configuration of body.

Junior Rules

1. Must be 13 years old and no older than 15 by their 1st race of the season. If they turn 16 during the season they have the option of moving up to another class.

2. All drivers must have a signed permission slip by their parent or legal guardian and witnessed by 2 non related people. Also a copy of their birth certificate must be on file with the club secretary prior to racing and a parent or legal guardian must be present and signed in with the minor each race day.

3. A parent or legal guardian must be present on race day and must also sign in with the driver.

4. Any four-cylinder front or rear wheel drive car meeting all safety rules and 4 cylinder class rules. No turbo’s, superchargers or rotaries allowed in Junior class.

5. Must have full four point roll cage approved by pit steward. Roll bar padding strongly suggested.

6. Full racing harness required. Substrap strongly suggested

7. All drivers will wear a Snell 2000 or greater approved helmet.

8. Mandatory use of window nets and neck collars.

9. Must run SIERRA or equivalent coolant.

POINTS FOR ALL CLASSES (members only)

1. Only club members are eligible for points. All Drivers and Cars must be checked in at trailer and tech by 11:00 am (or 1 hour prior to start time) or they go to rear of heat. All cars must pass tech or you do not race. If you race without going through tech you receive no points.

2. Line up: Draw for heats. First week only, draw for feature. The rest of the year we line up features by points with low point drivers to the front and high point drivers to the rear. Previous weeks feature winner goes to rear of point drivers. Non members, go behind the point drivers. Latchkey will stay the same with drawing for the heats and features.

3. Heat points as follows:

2nd 2 pts
3rd 1 pts

4. Feature points as follows:

1st 22 pts
2nd 19 pts
3rd 17 pts
4th 15 pts
5th 14 pts
6th 13 pts
7th 12 pts
8th 11 pts
9th 10 pts
10th 9 pts etc.

5. Any member who participates at Sandwich Fair by working at least 3 hours at the booth or contributing a raffle worth $25.00 will receive 10 points. Members must sign up prior to fair with club secretary. Or new drivers can donate a $25 raffle to the banquet by their second race.

6. Special events only: Members who sign in at trailer and take green flag will receive 10 points.  (Special events include Latchkey Cup, Saturday races and otherwise noted races.

7. There must be 3 point races in order to declare a season champion in each class.

8. Must make one full green flag lap to get points or trophy.
